Choose a model and customize instructions

Pick which AI model powers your Chief of Staff, add custom instructions, and keep its business context current.

The Settings tab is where you shape how your Chief of Staff behaves. It is split into five short groups; click a group's name to open it:

  • How it works for you: how proactive it is, and when your morning message arrives (open to start with).
  • You and your business: its name, your business profile, and your voice.
  • Calendar: connect Google Calendar so it can see your week and book for you.
  • Big moves toward your goals: how often it looks for big opportunities.
  • Advanced: the AI model, your own AI keys, and custom instructions.

On a phone, tap Menu, then Settings (under Account).

How proactive it is

Pick a model

Your Chief of Staff runs on a fast, capable Gemini model by default, so you do not have to set anything up. If you want it on a specific model, open Advanced, add your own provider key and choose one in the AI model section. You can run it on Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude, or xAI Grok, and set a backup model it falls back to. The model list comes from Noli's own catalog, so it stays current without you tracking version names. After you add a key, your choice applies in about half a minute and the available models appear.

If you already pay for ChatGPT, there is a third option that needs no key at all: connect your ChatGPT plan on the Connections tab and your Chief of Staff thinks on that plan, billed by OpenAI. See Run your Chief of Staff on your ChatGPT plan.

You can add keys here, or add them once for your whole team and all your apps on the AI provider keys page. Keys your workspace owner adds there apply to every teammate's Chief of Staff automatically, and a team key saved later replaces a personal one.

Once a provider's key is added, your Chief of Staff runs that provider's models on your key straight away, billed by the provider, not only after your monthly tokens run out. For example, with a Google key its default Gemini model runs on your key. Remove the key and it goes back to your Noli tokens.

Add custom instructions

In Advanced, tell your Chief of Staff how you like specific tasks done, your preferences, and your context. For example: "When summarizing my pipeline, list the largest deals first" or "Keep updates to three bullets." These add to its core role, which is set by Noli, they do not replace it. Custom instructions apply to new conversations.

Keep its business context current

In You and your business, on the Name and business profile card, click Edit to update what your Chief of Staff knows about your business, customers, and goals. Keeping this current is the simplest way to improve the quality of its work. Updated context applies to new conversations.
