Run your Chief of Staff on your ChatGPT plan

Already paying for ChatGPT? Have your Chief of Staff think on that plan, so OpenAI bills you for it instead of it drawing on your Noli tokens.

Your Chief of Staff normally does its thinking on Noli's own AI allowance, the monthly pool of tokens included in your plan. If you already pay for ChatGPT, you can point it at that plan instead. The work then counts against your ChatGPT limits, and OpenAI bills you for it, not Noli.

Connect your plan

  1. Open Chief of Staff from your dashboard and go to the Connections tab, under Setup (on a phone, tap Menu, then Setup, then Connections).
  2. Find Your own ChatGPT plan and click Connect ChatGPT.
  3. Noli shows you a short code. Open auth.openai.com/codex/device, enter the code, and approve it. The page updates on its own when it lands. The code expires after about fifteen minutes (a countdown shows how long is left). If it runs out, click Get a new code.
  4. When it says "ChatGPT account connected," click Start using it. The card shows In use, and your Chief of Staff switches over within about half a minute.

This feature is badged Experimental in the product. It relies on OpenAI's own Codex sign-in, which OpenAI does not document for third-party use.

Choose a model

Once your plan is in use, a Model list appears on the card. It lists only the models your plan actually offers, because Noli checks your subscription rather than guessing. Pick the one you want your Chief of Staff to use. Changing the model restarts your Chief of Staff for about half a minute. You can also see what is left on your plan, straight from OpenAI, on the same card.

Worth knowing before you switch

  • It shares your limits. The work your Chief of Staff does counts against your ChatGPT plan's limits, and those limits are shared with your own ChatGPT and Codex use. A heavy day on either side can slow the other down.
  • You need a paid plan. A free ChatGPT account will not work.
  • OpenAI's terms apply to this usage, since the requests go to OpenAI under your account.
  • You can switch back any time. Click Disconnect on the same card and your Chief of Staff goes back to your Noli allowance.

If a model runs out of quota, it shows as unavailable in the model list and the usage bar on the card says limit reached. Pick another model, or disconnect to go back to your Noli allowance.
