Connect a messaging channel

Reach your Chief of Staff from Telegram, Slack, Discord or iMessage, and choose where your morning message arrives.

You do not have to be in the dashboard to work with your Chief of Staff. Connect a messaging channel and you can chat with it from Telegram, Slack, or Discord, on your phone, the same way you would in the app.

Connect a channel

Open the Channels tab, under Setup (on a phone, tap Menu, then Setup, then Channels), and pick the platform you want. The direct address is app.noliai.com/dashboard/cos?tab=channels. Each card has its own short step list. In general you will create a bot or app on that platform, copy the credential it gives you, paste it into the card, and click Connect.

Every token is checked with the provider before it is saved. If Telegram, Discord, or Slack does not accept what you pasted, the card says so and nothing is stored, so you never end up with a channel that looks connected and never delivers. Connecting a channel restarts your Chief of Staff for a few seconds.

Telegram

  1. In Telegram, open @BotFather and send /newbot.
  2. Choose a name and username, then copy the token it gives you.
  3. Message @userinfobot to get your numeric chat ID.
  4. Paste both into the Telegram card and click Connect.
  5. Send your bot any message. A pairing code appears on the Channels tab. Approve it once, and you are connected.

That last step is not optional. Telegram will not let your bot talk to anyone, including you, until the code is approved here.

Discord

Create an application in the Discord developer portal, add a bot, enable the Message Content intent, and invite it to your server. Paste the bot token, plus the channel ID you want your morning message and scheduled work delivered to, and click Connect.

Slack

Create a Slack app from the manifest on the card, then install it to your workspace. Slack gives you two tokens and you need both:

  • The Bot token from OAuth & Permissions. It starts with xoxb-.
  • An App-level token from Basic Information, generated with the connections:write scope. It starts with xapp-.

Paste both into the Slack card and click Connect. Slack is for chatting with your Chief of Staff. The morning message is not delivered to Slack.

iMessage (early access)

iMessage runs through Photon, using your own free Photon project, and it has its own card at the bottom of the Channels tab.

  1. Go to app.photon.codes and create a free account.
  2. Create a project. Photon gives it a project ID and a project secret.
  3. Open the project settings and copy both values.
  4. Paste them into the iMessage card and click Connect. Your Chief of Staff restarts for a few seconds.
  5. In Photon, find the number your project uses for iMessage, then text it from your phone to check it through.

iMessage is early access. Unlike Telegram, Discord and Slack, Photon publishes no check we can run from here, so the two values are saved without being verified: if one of them is wrong, nothing tells you until a message does not arrive. Send yourself a test message before you rely on it. WhatsApp is not supported yet.

Approving who can message it

Anyone who messages your Chief of Staff on a connected channel appears on the Channels tab under Who can message your Chief of Staff, with a pairing code. They cannot talk to it until you approve them, so your line stays private. The panel refreshes on its own while the tab is open, so a code you just triggered shows up without a reload. If nothing is waiting, it says so.

Chat from anywhere

Once connected, message your Chief of Staff in that app the same way you would in the dashboard. It has the same memory and the same access to your apps, so a conversation you start on Telegram draws on everything it knows about your business.

Where the morning message goes

One setting decides where your morning message arrives. Open the Settings tab and look under Morning message:

  • In the app. Always on, at the top of the Opportunities tab.
  • By email. A checkbox, available on the Proactive level.
  • Telegram and Discord. A checkbox each, and each one appears only once that channel is connected and has a chat or channel ID saved on its card. Without that ID there is nowhere to send to, so the toggle stays hidden.

Telegram and Discord respect your quiet hours: if your morning time falls inside them, the chat copy arrives when they end. Slack is not on that list. Slack is for chatting with your Chief of Staff; it cannot receive the morning message, and neither can iMessage yet. See Your morning message.

Telegram and Discord also receive scheduled work: point a scheduled task at that channel and its results are pushed there, which is how you get a morning run in your pocket. That uses the same chat or channel ID. See Schedule recurring work for setting the delivery target.

See channel conversations in one place

Every conversation, whether it happened in web chat, on a schedule, or in a connected channel, shows up in the Conversations tab, labeled by where it came from. That gives you one place to see everything your Chief of Staff has handled.
