Keep a to-do list in your Knowledge Base
Lists, priorities, due dates and a completion percentage, plus the Pre-Mortem button that turns a session's prevention steps into to-dos.
The To-Do page keeps the follow-ups that come out of your notes, documents and thinking sessions in the same place as the thinking itself. It is organized around lists, so a project's tasks stay separate from your everyday ones.
Turn the page on first
To-Do is one of eight pages hidden from the sidebar on a new account. If you cannot see it under Capture, scroll to the bottom of the sidebar and click Show all features, or tick it in Settings, Navigation. See Show the pages hidden from your sidebar.
Make a list
- Open To-Do.
- Click New List. It is created as "Untitled List" and opens straight away.
- Click the list title to rename it, then press Enter.
Lists sit in a panel on the left. Click one to work in it. You can Archive a list to get it out of the way, or delete it, which deletes its to-dos too and asks you to confirm first.
Add a to-do
With a list open, fill in the form at the top:
- Type the task in What needs to be done?
- Add Details (optional) if the task needs context.
- Set a due date and a priority: Low, Medium or High. Medium is the default.
- Click Add.
Managing items is quick. Click the checkbox to complete one, which sets off a small celebration. Use the pencil to edit the title and details, the trash icon to delete, and the handle on the left to drag items into the order you want.
Active, Completed and your score
Three filters sit above the list: All, Active and Completed. Above them, three counters track the list:
- Active, how many are still open.
- High Priority, how many of the open ones are urgent.
- Completion, the percentage finished, with a bar that fills as you work.
Turn a Pre-Mortem into to-dos
This is the part worth knowing. After a Pre-Mortem session, click Create Todos and the prevention steps in the latest response become to-dos, tagged so you can tell where they came from. You get a confirmation saying how many were created. If the response has no clear steps in it, it tells you that instead of inventing any.
One thing to expect: to-dos created this way are not filed into one of your lists, so they will not appear under the list you have open. If you want them on a list, add them there yourself.
Why it matters
Most good intentions die between the thinking and the doing. Capturing the steps in the same place you did the thinking, with one button, closes that gap.
