Set up your Chief of Staff

Name your Chief of Staff and give it the context about your business it needs to be useful from day one.

The first time you open your Chief of Staff, a short setup walks you through naming it and telling it about your business. The more it knows about you, the better its work, so this step is worth a few minutes.

Name your Chief of Staff

Give it a name. The default is Scout, but you can call it whatever you like. This is just how you will refer to it in chat.

Tell it about your business

Enter your business name and, if you have one, your website. Your Chief of Staff scans the site and prepopulates the rest of the profile for you:

  • What your business does
  • Who your customers are
  • Your goals
  • Your voice and tone

Review what it filled in and correct anything that is off. If you do not have a website, you can fill these in by hand. Everything here is optional, but each field makes the work more tailored to you.

Finish the welcome tour

After the profile, a quick tour shows you the apps your Chief of Staff can already run for you, examples of what to ask it, and how to make it more powerful with channels and custom instructions. You can skip it at any time.

Change it later

You can edit any of this whenever you want. Open the Settings tab and click Edit under Business profile. Updated context applies to new conversations.
