The daily check and what AI Visibility costs
When the daily check is worth turning on, what a weekly scan costs, and how the monthly budget protects you.
The weekly scan is the measurement
Once a week, every active question is asked of every engine you selected, with repeated samples on the engines that answer differently each time. That repetition is what makes the score trustworthy, and it is why the weekly number is the one on your dashboard, in the shared report and in your digest.
A single reading cannot tell you whether something you did worked. The trend can, which is why the weekly cadence stays even when you are not watching.
The daily check is a stopwatch, not a score
The Daily check on your starred questions switch sits in the What we look for card. It is off by default.
Turned on, it asks Perplexity and Google AI Mode your starred questions once a day, one sample each. At most five starred questions run; with none starred it uses the first three. The results appear as a small bar strip under the score, labelled as a trend rather than the score, and they are kept separate from your weekly history.
Turn it on when you have just done something you want to watch land: published a page for a gap, fixed a directory listing, claimed a Google Business Profile. Turn it off again afterwards. A single daily sample is noise most of the time, and left on all month it costs about as much as the weekly scan itself.
What it costs
- A weekly scan of ten questions is roughly forty cents, or about a dollar seventy-five a month.
- The daily check is a few cents a day while it is on.
- Finding conversation threads is about a cent per question.
- The site check and llms.txt cost nothing.
Everything AI Visibility spends counts against your workspace's monthly AI allowance, the same pool as the rest of your AI usage. There is no separate balance to buy.
The monthly budget
The Monthly budget card is a second, harder ceiling that only covers AI Visibility. It defaults to ten dollars a month. A scan that would cross it is refused before a single vendor call is made and waits for the next month, so a misconfiguration cannot run away with your allowance.
The bar turns amber at seventy percent and red at ninety. Change the number and press Save. Changing the budget is an owner or admin action.
Engines and their prices
ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews and Gemini are all around a cent or two per answer, which is what keeps a scan under a dollar. Two engines are much more expensive per answer and are not on the selectable list for that reason; a workspace can be opted into Claude deliberately, and it runs at one sample per question.
Things that stop the spending on their own
- The monthly budget, refused before any vendor call.
- Dormancy. After eight weeks with nobody opening the page, weekly scans and the daily check pause. Answers already paid for are still collected. Your next visit resumes the schedule and the page tells you it has.
- The switches. Weekly scans at the top of the page stops everything; the daily check has its own switch.
